Hey fellow vet med people hoping someone can help interpret bloodwork on my 4yo intact male rabbit (mixed breed).
We don't do a lot of exotics labwork so none of us really knew if this was indicative of anything that needed tx.
One dvm said calcium could be high just because he's a rabbit. She intended on looking in one of her books for more info but we got busy and forgot. Other dvm doesn't know anything of exotics as we mostly see cats and dogs and she's not sure how to use VIN as she only just got a VIN acct after 30 years
High ALT
Low ALKP
Other than drinking a lot of water lately he seems fine. Still his normal energy and appetite and bm and urinary habits are wnl.
This was wellness labwork?
Rabbits absorb all calcium they ingest, so elevations aren't too concerning.
I've had plenty of clinically normal rabbits with that liver enzyme change, if no clinical signs I wouldn't be too concerned. You could consider a liver ultrasound for additional screening.
